Getting home safely
We want to make sure that once you have enjoyed a night out with us you get home safely and don’t upset other people on your way home. Often when people are having a great time they forget that not everyone has been out to the small hours with them and may already be in bed. This not only applies to students in Halls of Residence but also those living in the local community. Many of our neighbours will have to be up early in the morning for work or have children who are trying to sleep. By having respect for their needs as well as your own, not only will you be more likely to be accepted as an equal in the local community but you may avoid the possibility of a conflict situation developing, which will not make your stay in the community easy or pleasant.
If you do live off campus and are leaving late at night always make sure you leave in groups, never on your own, or book a reputable licensed cab. Never call an unlicensed minicab. A free phone direct to a local cab firm is available in the atrium of the Hamilton Centre between Locos bar and the Academy night club.
