Brunel University has a proud history of achievement in sport on both a competitive and non-competitive level. Brunel has produced many famous sporting heroes ranging from Richard Hill and Augustin Pichot (Rugby Union), Audley Harrison (Boxing), James Cracknell (Rowing) Kelly Sotherton (Athletics), and most recently GB sprinter Montell Douglas. At University level we have proud records in recent times (including Netball winning Premiership south, and the women’s indoor athletics team winning the championship), together with a huge medal haul at the national Karate championships, the number one women’s student boxer, and students representing their nations in a variety of sports including Athletics, football, tambourelli and Tennis.

Whilst we are immensely proud of these achievements, we work hard to ensure that regardless of your ability or experience, you are welcome to join our clubs and enjoy the camaraderie, activities and competition available. Click here for a list of achievements.

Membership is open to all students, whether you are trying a sport for the first time or you are an experienced player. We compete against other universities throughout the country, affiliated with BUCS (formerly BUSA), alongside the RFU, FA and numerous other national governing bodies. If you do not wish to participate at a competitive level there are a variety of intramural sports on offer. From mainstream to extreme the Union facilitate, develop and fund the clubs in order to provide sporting opportunities for all.
